scholarships(En Español)The North American Permaculture Convergence is a non-profit convergence of professional permaculture designers and educators as well as students.

Permaculture is the practice of designing systems so as to use the resources available in an area wisely, thus creating long term abundance and health for both people and regional ecosystems.

Many permaculture designers are working in high poverty or “low resource” areas to help get systems established that can support the people living there in ways that regenerate the bounty of regional ecosystems, and local communities. Some of these designers are dedicating many hours to this activity on a volunteer basis and thus have very few personal funds available to them to continue their professional training and/or make those vital professional connections that allow them to be more effective and expand their projects.

This fund raising campaign has been created to cover the costs of people who are doing this work to attend the first North American Permaculture Convergence at the end of August of 2014. We feel that these individuals have an important voice at any convergence of permaculture professionals and we want to ensure they can attend, if they desire to do so. See who has received NAPC scholarships so far HERE.

We have created a scholarship application HERE:

We will be approving those applicants who have demonstrated dedication to improving their communities or the projects they are involved with. We are seeking diversity in applicants as well. Those of you who have seen some of these projects know how worthwhile they are.

We’re asking you to please give, if only $10 – it adds up!  If you can give $25, or $50, or $100, please do so!  You can contribute through our Go Fund Me page or use the PayPal form at the bottom of the side-bar to your right.) And if you can pay the full admission for anybody, the world will thank you.  We have chosen to use Go Fund Me because funds are made immediately available and we can let people know as soon as sufficient donations have been made, so that they can make arrangements to attend.

Your contribution is tax-deductible as allowed by law. North American Permaculture Convergence operates as a 501c3 non-profit charitable organization in the United States under the auspices of it’s umbrella organization, Inquiring Systems, Inc. A small percentage of revenue raised (5% and under) goes to ISI in exchange for it’s administrative services. Your tax documents will bear ISI’s name. Our tax identification number (EIN) is 94-2524840. This acknowledgment is designed to comply with the requirements of IRC Section 170(f)(8), as amended.

So happy to be able to sponsor a ticket for one of these amazing people! The panels and round tables will be so much richer with the diversity of experiences they will be bringing. Thank you to the scholarship committee for making this pathway to reinvesting the surplus in the most promising young go-getters of our permaculture community so easy. Im thrilled to aid and abet the success and succession of permaculture here in the US 🙂
